How far away is death?
Among potential dangers in the painting profession:
- Exposure to molds, bacteria, fungi, as well as to products, solvents, lead, and other toxic chemicals
- Toxic effects on the body, such as neuropathy and cardiac/kidney injury, lung cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma
- Hazards from flammables
- Physical hazards: risk of falls and falling objects; repetitive movements; working in confined spaces and hazardous locations; standing in place and lifting arms for extended periods; exposure to extreme temperatures and extended exposure to UVA
