Lessons Learned: Wrong-Way Driver Kills 6

Why was a wrong-way driver headed in the opposite direction when the 17-year-old hit a minivan, killed six members of a family?

NBC News reports about the wrong-way accident, “Investigators believe the 17-year-old driver of a pickup truck entered oncoming traffic in a ‘no passing’ area and hit a minivan head-on Tuesday.

NBC states, “The driver of the Odyssey and five passengers died. The sole surviving passenger, a 43-year-old man, suffered critical injuries,” according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.”

“The driver and the passenger of the pickup truck also suffered critical injuries,” the department said.

“The crash happened on U.S. Route 67 at around 4 p.m. Tuesday [Dec. 26], when the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado with a 17-year-old driver and a passenger was traveling south and entered the northbound lane in a ‘no passing’ zone,” stated the Texas Department of Public Safety.

NBC News reports, “the department cited that the truck then struck the 2021 Honda Odyssey, which was traveling north.”
