Do You Want to Improve Equipment Troubleshooting, Maintenance, & Equipment Reliability? Then This Special Event is for You!
Course and Summit Coming Up on April 29 to May 3
Do you need new, effective, proven ways to improve equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, and equipment reliability? Then, you need to attend a course on April 29 – 30 and a Summit on May 1-3. Both of these are being held at the Horseshoe Bay Resort near Austin, Texas. Read on for the details about both events and how you can participate.
The Equifactor® Equipment Troubleshooting and TapRooT® Root Cause Analysis Course
Back in 1997, I worked with equipment reliability expert Heinz Bloch to develop a new technique for equipment troubleshooting and built it into the TapRooT® Root Cause Analysis System.
Over the years, we have improved the system and embedded it in the TapRooT® Software (including embedding it in the TapRooT® App that you can use on your phone).
What makes this system special, and how can it help you people effectively troubleshoot problems and find the root causes of equipment failures and reliability issues?
FIRST, Heinz Blocks’ troubleshooting techniques and tables were developed over an extensive career in the petrochemical industry. He was recognized as an equipment reliability guru (he died last year), and that knowledge is built into the Equifactor® Troubleshooting System. These techniques are a “must-have” for your troubleshooting skills.
Second, we’ve taken Heinz’s extensive troubleshooting tables and computerized them to make them easy to use and available to everyone. This provides everyone with consistent, advanced guidance when troubleshooting the failures of:
- Pumps
- Compressors
- Turbines
- Engines
- Electric Motors and Commutators
- Refrigeration
- Conveyors
- Valves
- Seals
- Gears
- Gear Couplings
- Electrical Components
Plus, you can add your own custom tables for equipment not covered by the tables above.
And for other types of failures, there are also several other techniques to help people troubleshoot the issues:
- Change Analysis
- SnapCharT® Diagram
- Failure Mode
- Failure Agent
Once the troubleshooting is complete, the next step is identifying the Causal Factors and Root Causes. This part of the system and training highlights the unique TapRooT® Root Cause Tree® Diagram that guides problem solvers to the root causes of equipment and human performance issues and the Corrective Action Helper® Guide that helps problem solvers develop effective fixes.

2024 Global TapRooT® Summit
The 2024 Global TapRooT® Summit is being held on May 1-3 at the Horseshoe Bay Resort near Austin, Texas. Let’s start by describing the portion of the Summit that is especially designed for people interested in improving equipment reliability and maintenance…
Maintenance & Reliability Best Practice Track
At the Summit, there are seven Best Practice Tracks. One of those tracks is the Maintenance and Reliability Best Practices Track. What’s in this track? Nine sessions that share best practices to improve equipment reliability and maintenance and promote networking. These sessions include:
- AdvancedSnapCharT® Diagram Techniques (highlighting a maintenance error)
- Destroying Silos Using Cross-Functional Teams to Identify Proables (especially helpful for bridging the engineering/maintenance/operations gap)
- 530 Custom Equifactor Tables and Cryogenic Equifactor Tables (how to personalize/customize your Equifactor® Tables)
- Equipment Difficulty Section of the Root Cause Tree® Diagram
- None of Us Is As Dumb As All of Us
- Changing Minds (challenges faced and overcome implementing Equifactor®)
- Implementing Your Best Ideas (what to do when you return to work)
- Equifqctor® Symposium (sharing best practices and ideas for improving Equifactor® tables and training)
- Syzygy Plasmonics (Using Equifactor in research and development)
That is an interesting set of topics to add to the knowledge gained in the 2-Day Equifactor® Equipment Troubleshooting Training. But there’s more. Read on for other knowledge and inspiration you can achieve by attending the Global TapRooT® Summit.
Cross Industry/Cross Profession Networking/Benchmarking
One unique advantage of attending the Global TapRooT® Summit is that you don’t just talk to equipment folks. You get to network and benchmark with equipment reliability folks, but you also meet and discuss best practices with those interested in:
- Quality
- Safety
- Operational Excellence
- Human Performance
- Root Cause Analysis
- All types of Improvement Programs
And these folks come from various industries and countries around the world. They may challenge your perceptions and provide new ideas that you haven’t tried.
In addition, you can choose from topics outside the Maintenance & Reliability Best Practice Track to customize your Summit experience. CLICK HERE to see the full Summit schedule and see what other sessions you might want to attend.
