Evidence Collection Book for Incident Investigations

Ever try to find a good evidence collection book for an incident investigation? If you search “evidence collection books” or “investigative interviewing books” in Google, you’ll come up with all kinds of books about crime scene investigation and forensics, but there are few resources on this topic that are helpful for investigating a workplace accident.

No doubt, there are a few takeaways that we can take from forensic-focused books, but a workplace incident investigation is not the same as a police investigation.

That’s why we wrote TapRooT® Evidence Collection and Interviewing Techniques to Sharpen Investigation Skills.

Learn:

  • The 3 Ps and an R of evidence collection. (People, Paper, Physical, and Recordings)
  • The TapRooT® 12-Step Interview Process (Cognitive Interviewing)
  • Decoding nonverbal behavior
  • Building your investigation kit
  • An initial observation form
  • An interview preparation form
  • An evidence log
  • How to use Change Analysis and CHAP as part of an interview/evidence collection process

Evidence collection is important for avoiding investigator bias and getting to the real root causes of accidents. You can’t develop effective corrective actions if you are not identifying the right problems.
